Apple event 2026, titled “Surprise and shine,” is happening on Wednesday, September 9, at 10:00 AM PT (10:30 PM IST).
This year’s showcase is a huge milestone for the company for two main reasons: New Leadership & New Strategy. It is the first major product launch led by Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, who recently took over the role from Tim Cook.
Also, Apple is changing how it releases its phones. The standard, cheaper models—the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2—have been pushed back to early 2027. This leaves the September event focused entirely on Apple’s most expensive high-end phones and a brand-new Apple’s First foldable device.
Here’s what to expect at Apple Event 2026
Apple’s First Foldable (iPhone Ultra)
The biggest highlight of the event is widely expected to be Apple’s long-rumoured entrant into the foldable space, potentially branded as the iPhone Ultra.
- Design & Form Factor: Reports describe a book-style foldable featuring a ~5.5-inch outer OLED cover screen that opens up into a large ~7.8-inch inner display. When unfolded, the device is rumoured to measure just 4.5mm thick.
- Authentication & Optics: Unlike traditional slab iPhones, the foldable model may rely on a side-mounted Touch ID button rather than Face ID. It is expected to sport a dual 48MP rear camera system and two front-facing sensors for versatile orientation capture.
- Price: Positioned as a luxury ultra-flagship, price estimates range between $2,000 and $2,500 (roughly ₹1,70,000 to ₹2,15,000 in India).
iPhone 18 Pro & iPhone 18 Pro Max
After Apple’s First foldable device, with the standard models pushed back, the iPhone 18 Pro (6.3-inch) and iPhone 18 Pro Max (6.9-inch) will represent the core annual update for power users.
- A20 Pro Chip (2nm): Under the hood lies Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro processor, manufactured using TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm node. It promises up to an 18% boost in speed and a 30% reduction in power consumption, alongside custom packaging (Multi-Chip Module) designed to move memory closer to the chip for heavy Apple Intelligence workflows.
- Variable-Aperture Camera: The primary 48MP camera on the Pro Max (and possibly the Pro) is tipped to feature a physical variable aperture. This gives photographers hardware-level control over exposure and depth of field, paired with a wider-aperture Telephoto lens with up to 6x optical zoom.
- Refined Design: Expect a noticeably smaller Dynamic Island (achieved by embedding certain Face ID sensors closer to the panel), slightly thicker frames to accommodate larger batteries (over 5,500mAh on the Pro Max), and a streamlined, simplified Camera Control button.
- In-House C2 Modem: Apple’s second-generation internal cellular modem is expected to debut, driving lower latency and enhanced power efficiency.
Apple Watch Series 12 & Watch Ultra 4
At Apple event 2026, alongside phones, Apple is updating its wearable lines with a heavy emphasis on health tracking and performance:
- Continuous Heart Health: Apple is reportedly testing continuous health-monitoring features powering a redesigned Health app interface aimed at competing with smart rings like the Oura Ring.
- Apple Watch Ultra 4 & Series 12: Both watches are slated to receive processor bumps, enhanced battery optimisation, and updated chassis colourways. (Note: A new entry-level Apple Watch SE 4 is not expected until a later date).
AirPods 5 & Apple TV 4K
AirPods 5: A refresh to the base earbud line is expected, focusing on improved audio processing and fit refinements.
Apple TV 4K: Code leaks point to a potential refresh of the streaming box equipped with a faster processor to support local Siri AI tasks and expanded gaming features, accompanied by an updated Siri Remote.
